Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height overall consisting of a blue disc bearing diagonally across the disc a gold winged and belled falcon's leg, the wings extending above the rim and the claws grasping a black horizontal rectangle at base of disc; all above and enclosed at the sides by a circular gold scroll inscribed "SUPPORT EVERYWHERE" in black letters.

Symbolism
The Battalion's capability for speed, accuracy and expert maneuvering in the performance of its aviation assignments is depicted by the winged falcon's leg in front of the expanse of blue sky.  The bell pertains to the planning and control provided by the unit.  The black rectangle alludes to cargo and the transportation mission of the Battalion.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 18 January 1967.

Note:  This Battalion was never authorized a coat of arms.
